It is Monday again

I am happy this morning. My family is all back under one roof.  Matthew came home from his dad's yesterday.  I miss him so much when he is gone.  I have a busy week ahead.  I have the community tree lighting ceremony tomorrow night, John has his oral boards at the police department( which we are praying he gets), and a workshop on Thursday evening. I am hoping the workshop does really well, that is Christmas money.  I am also getting ready for a stamp camp on the 12th.  I am also getting ready for Sophie's first birthday. (sniff sniff).  I will be working in my office/craft room later today.  I will hopefully be able to post some projects this week.

Yesterday at church,  the children hung all the chrismons on the tree.  It was really neat to see the tree all decorated with handmade chrismons.  It really brings the meaning of Christmas into focus.

Have a great day.

Sorry I am late.

I know I promised yesterday, but I got really really busy yesterday.  I cleaned the living room, re-organized the 700+ DVDs so baby girl couldn't pull them out any more, cleaned out an re organized the pantry, cleaned out and re organized 2 cabinets, did 2 loads of laundry, cooked 2 full meals, and put up the Christmas decorations in the living room.  (I still have to do the Dining room decorations)  Like I said I was busy, you would almost think it was spring if I hadn't been putting up Christmas decorations.

As promised although a day late.

  • Next use your Snail to glue the Bashful Blue to the  Whisper White card besure to measure to ensure that the  small piece of Whisper White can easily slide in and out so don't glue where it will be.
  • Then punch the circle through both of the pieces.
  • Now punch a circle in the 3x3 piece of bashful blue.
  • Place the Sweet Treat cup through to the front of the card and place the 3x3 Bashful Blue piece on the backside of the front of the card and glue in place.

bad weekend.

This might be the last post for a few days.  Yesterday while wrestling with John and Ethan, I hurt my wrists.  Ihave it in a splint for now which makes typing really hard.  Then this morning walking through the kitchen to go get John up for church. I hit my head on the vent hood of the stove and knocked myself out.  I am still dizzy from it.  I will try to start post again on Tuesday.  I made a super cute card yesterday before my run of bad luck. I will post it Tuesday.

Starting to look and feel alot like Christmas

We are getting ready to get the tree and decorations out for Christmas at our house.  Our nieghbor across the street is getting their decorations out also.  I think we might watch Mickey's A Christmas Carol for Family movie night tonight. It is chilly out and hot chocolate is starting to sound really good to me.  Yep it is getting close to Christmas.  In that spirit, as I promised, more chrismons.

The first is made the same way as the red ones I did.  I stamped them with Versa Mark ink #102283 and gold embossing powder #109129.  It was a little harder to fold but it worked. I used only 3 crosses to make it, to repressent the trinity.

This next one took a little more fussing to get it to work, but it is do-able. I think it will look beautiful on a tree with all white lights.

Recipe
 Materials:

  • Special Blessings #113411

  • Whisper White Cardstock #100730

  • Versamark ink #102283

  • Gold embossing powder #109129

  • Heat gun #100005

  • Gold elastic cord #109867

  • paper piercer #116631

  • Snail adhesive #104332

  • Mini glue dots #103683

  • Paper snips #103579

How to
  • I started by stamping 4 crosses from the Special Blessings stamp set in Versamark ink
  • Then I sprinkled the gold embossing powder on the stamped crosses and used the heating gun to emboss them.
  • After that I cut the crosses out leave about 1/4 inch on the top, bottom, and each side (refer to photo above)
  • Then I folded those extra pieces to the back of the cross and creased them.
  • Then I applied the Snail adhesive to the folded back side pieces.  This is how they all attach together.
  • Then I applied Snail to the side the will not be seen on the bottom except for one and folded them in and repeat for the top.
  • Next I used my paper piercing tool to pierce a hole for the cord.
These are the steps that take a little fussing with:
  • Then I fed the cord through from the top to the center of the inside.  I left a loop outside and tied a simple knot to hold it in place.
  • Then with a mini glue dot I glued down the knot.
  • I took one of the little scraps cut off the crosses and put a glue dot on it and placed it over the knot.
This last picture is one that the kids can do after you do the embossing.  We wouldn't want the kids to get burned.

Sorry about it being sideways I can't figure out how to turn it on here.  I should have put it in a photo editor first.

Recipe

Materials:
  • Special Blessings #113411
  • Whisper White Cardstock #100730
  • Versamark ink #102283
  • Gold embossing powder #109129
  • Heat gun #100005
  • Gold elastic cord #109867
  • Snail adhesive #104332
  • Paper snips #103579
How to:
  • I started by stamping 6 doves from the Special Blessing stamp set using Versamark ink.
  • Then I sprinkled gold embossing powder and used the heat gun to emboss the image.
  • Next I trimmed each dove out seperately being careful to trim close to but not going over the lines.
  • Then I measured out about 12 inches of the elastic cord.  I tied a loop in one end about  3 inches.
  • After that I lined up the first 3 doves and put snail on them down the center vertically.  But avoided the wings of the dove.
  • Then I laid the doves stamped side down  and ran the cord down them leaving about 1/2 to 1 inch between each one.
  • Then I used the snail on the rest of the body of the face down doves.
  • Then I place the remaining 3 doves stamped side to back side (so they are facing the same way) and pressed them down.
  • Finally I slightly bent the front wings forward and the back wings back.  So the doves appear to be flying.

This is it for today so far.  I hope you like this projects.  They will make a beautiful addition to you Christmas trees, wreaths, and garlands.  Remember all the products needed to complete these 3 projects can be purchased through me at mistismemories.stampinup.net Have a great weekend.

Its Friday

It is Friday, and many of you are looking forward to the weekend.  I am a SAHM and weekends don't really mean the same to me.   I look forward to the weekends for the family time.  On Saturday night we have family movie night, which the boys love.  Pizza or nachos and snacks, getting to eat in the living room, sometimes root beer or root beer floats, getting to watch a movie.  To the boys it is heaven. Even when friends stay the night they think it is awesome.  What movie to watch, is the big question.  Which is giving me an idea for a movie night gift.  I will have to get busy making it then show you, so keep checking back for that.

As I was surfing blogs this morning, I found a totally awesome project Thanks to Dawn @ Dawns Stamping Thoughts.  She made a Tea lite lollipop.  I can't wait to try it.  It is too cute.  I am currently working on designing a post-it note holder for the Christmas Gift Stamp Camp.  I will show it when I figure it out.  I am also working on some more chrismons.  As it turns out they are supposed to be white and gold,  I am working on a design that will still be 3D but different than the other design and use embossing.  I will post when I finish it.  Wow I have a lot to work on.  I better get busy.  Hopefully Sophie will let Mommy stamp today.

Have  a Great day and in case I don't post until Monday Have a Great Weekend.

Baptism Cards

As promised, here are the baptism cards I did for Matthew and Sophie. Matthew loved his.  He said it was a beautiful card and hugged me.  He is such a sweet boy.  I will miss him next week.

Supplies:
  • Whisper White cardstock 8 1/2x11 #100730 cut to 5 1/2x8 1/2, 3 3/4x2 3/4, and a scrap
  • Bashful Blue cardstock 8 1/2x11 #105120 cut to 4x3
  • Bashful Blue 1/4"Grosgrain Ribbon #109029 cut to 5 inches, 1 1/2, 1/2
  • Special Blessing stamp set #113411
  • snail adhesive #104332
  • mini glue dots #103683
  • Stampin dimensionals # 104430
  • Bone folder #102300*
*If you don't have a bone folder, this is essential equipment for any cardmaker and paper crafter.  It just makes scoring and creasing your fold lines easier and prettier.

What to do:
  • Take your 5 1/2 by 8 1/2 piece of Whisper White and score and crease at 4 1/4
  • On the same piece looking at the front of the card, fold the openning edge to the folded edge, or score at 2 1/8 and fold back to the other folded edge and crease.  This is the basic of a Z fold card.
  • Make sure all of your folds are creased very well this makes the card lay better.
  • On the scrap paper stamp the cross(or you can use the dove) from the set and cut it out close to the outline but not cutting that off.  place 5 Stampin Dimensionals on the back(you could use less but I wanted to make sure there would be no sagging because we hate sagging.)
  • Then on the Whisper White piece (3 3/4x 2 3/4)  Stamp the "May God Bless You..." stamp in the lower right corner
  • Use the long piece of GG ribbon and use your Snail on the back of the ribbon. ( I do mine on the back all the way across.)  And glue it down on about the middle of the white piece that "May God Bless You..." is stamped on.  ( you can measure if you are a stamper that prefers exact perfection, I am not...I don't have time)
  • Then take the longer piece of GG ribbon and on one end use a mini glue dot and make a circle
  • Next you want to use the smaller piece of GG ribbon and a mini glue dot on the same side of both ends glue the first end to the back of the large loop and then wrap the other end around to make a bow and glue it down.  There is your perfect bow.  It works everytime.
  • Then use a mini glue dot to attach the bow to the ribbon
  • After all that use the snail to glue the white cardstock to the bashful blue cardstock  Then adhere the cross to the white and blue
  • Then the way I measured was to, hold up the front decoration to the card , I used my finger nail to make a small line so I don't glue past it.  You could use a pencil and then erase the mark later, but again for me it takes to much time.
  • Glue down the front decoration, I centered mine vertically.
  • Then I stamped the cross again on the inside of the card making sure it wouldn't show on the outside of the card.
  • I also stamped "on your Baptism day" in the bottom right corner of the finished card.
This card will fit is a Meduim Envelope from Stampin Up! # 107303

Here is another color  and a slightly different card I did for Sophie.

As always you can order your supplies for this and all my projects at my website http://mistismemories.stampinup.net anytime.

Friday-eve

It is Thursday and that means one day closer to Friday. I am not looking forward to Friday this week. I know that seems odd, but Matthew leaves tomorrow to go stay with his daddy for a week. I miss him so much when he is gone. Ethan and Sophie miss him too. But at least I can take comfort in the fact that he has fun.

Well, I have trying to stamp for at least an hour everyday. I know that doesn't sound like much, but when you consider 3 kids, 4H, PTA, church, and a couple of other minor/sometimes major things. An hour of creative time makes me happy. I finally finished Matthew's baptism card. I will post it later. If I go in there now I will wake Sophie. To explain: to get into my office/studio, I have to walk through Sophie's room, and she is a light sleeper. I am also working getting ready for Debbie's workshop which we had to reschedule the date because we are both PTA and we are doing the tree lighting ceremony. We kinda have to be there. Then 2 weeks after that I have the Christmas Gift Stamp Camp on December 12. If you are interested, attending the Stamp Camp you can email me: mistismemories@yahoo.com for more information and reserve your seats. The seats will fill fast. I am also looking for hostesses in the Texarkana/4states area for in home workshops. I am also looking at starting a monthing stamping club after the new year. For these things you can also email me for information on these too. As always, you can order Stampin Up Here . Come back later today for the directions on the baptism card. Have a great Friday eve.

PS I want to put a permenant button to my Stampin Up website like many other demonstrator's have on their blogs but I am not sure how. If anybody knows how please let me know.

It is Windsday

I know I mispelled it, but it is windy and I love Winnie the Pooh. As a matter of fact, I found myself in my office yesterday going, "Think think think". I have decided my office must be my thoughtful spot. Which makes sense considering the nature of making cards for friends and family. I don't know about you but I really sit and consider the person a specific card is going to. If it happens to be a sympathy, get well, or things will get better card, I find myself thinking about that person and praying for them as I make the card. So my office is really is my thoughtful spot.

Today, I am waiting for the UPS truck. I am supposed to be getting my Bashful Blue card stock. Friday, I have a shipment coming with a few goodies for the upcoming Stamp Camp. I started trying to figure out how to make the boxes for the cookie exchange part of the Stamp Camp. I will figure it out.
Have a great Windsday.

Getting ready for Christmas and Advent

Last night I got to work in my office. Yeah! Sorry I am excited about that but with all the preparations for the baptisms and a cake order, I hadn't had time to get in there and work on stamping. I am trying to get ready for Christmas and the Advent season. Last night I made 2 chrismons. What is a chrismon you ask? It is a Christmas ornament with Christian symbols, many churches use them in their Christmas decorations. The word chrismon comes from combining Christmas minus the tmas and monogram minus the ogram. Sunday at church our pastor put out the word that we need some chrismons for the 29th. So I sat down and played last night. I came up with these adorable 3d cross chrismons.

The recipe for the Cross chrismon is:
  • Stampin Up! Special Blessing stamp set # 113411
  • Real red classic ink pad #103133 (although any color would work to match the other decorations)
  • whisper white 8 1/2x11 cardstock #100730 (one sheet makes 3),
  • Snail adhesive #104332,
  • Gold elastic cord #109867 or silver #109866 cut to a 6" length for each crismon,
  • bone folder (essental to get your folds creased really well) #102300.
  • Paper snips #103579

Directions:
On one sheet of whisper white cardstock stamp 5 or 6 crosses from the Special Blessings set in Real Red classic ink. Then cut each cross out right against the outline without cutting the outline off. Next you fold the crosses in half lengthwise. I found it easiest to line up the arms of the cross first then the top and bottom. Then crease the fold with the bone folder to make it nice and sharp. Then fold your length of elastic cord in half and tie a small knot in the loose ends. That gives you a beautiful a perfect loop to use as a hanger for the tree. Then with your snail adhesive on the length of the cross and the left side arm of the cross to each of the crosses. Then you line them up very carefully and press them together. After putting 3 together then press the knotted end of the elastic cord into the center of the crosses. Then continue with the rest of your crosses. The last cross needs to have snail adhesive on all of the back of it.

Happy Monday

Good morning, I don't know about the weather in your neck of the woods but here it got cool over night. A lot of the trees lost their leaves over night. It was really beautiful with all the trees and their leaves of many colors. But now that they have lost their leaves. It really signals that winter is coming very quick.

My family had a busy weekend. Matthew was baptized yesterday at Church which was just amazing. I am very thankful for it. I am also very thankful my mother in law was there to help take pictures because I was busy. Sophie was also Baptized/dedicated. I really enjoyed that. At one point during a prayer she leaned over backwards to look up at Pastor Wayne and was saying "Hi" to him. I thought it was really sweet. She just loves him. All of my kids do. Matthew wants a suit for Christmas "so he can be just like Brother Wayne". Ethan wants one too.

I haven't got any stamping done this weekend. I am hoping I will get some time this week. I am also getting ready for Debbie's Workshop on December 1 and the Christmas gift Stamp Camp on December 12. The stamp camp is going to be at least 6 ideas and a cookie exchange with one of the projects to create a beautiful way to wrap up your cookies as a gift. If you are in the Texarkana area and would like to attend please email me at mistismemories@yahoo.com.

Have a happy Monday! Misti

Busy Busy Busy

Happy Friday the 13th to all. I am getting ready for a very busy day/weekend, but on Monday I will have the first project of the week up. With Matthew and Sophie's baptisms this Sunday you can imagine that I am busy getting ready for that. I still have to finish Sophie's dress. I just started it last night. I know I shouldn't procrastinate, but Ethan was sick Tuesday and Wednesday, and Sophie teething. Then I am making a cake for a friends daughter, 4H tomorrow, and judging the local PTA reflections art, and I know I am forgetting something. Well, I did, the cake for the kids baptism. This has just been one of those weeks. I am expecting UPS today with my Special Blessings stamp set, Bashful Blue cardstock and grosgrain ribbon. I think this is a beautiful set for special occasions. I can't wait to make their cards and that is most likely the project for Monday. Well, I better go get the rest of the day started.

Hello to my fellow Stampers, Scrappers, and Paper Crafters

Welcome to my fellow paper crafters, which includes but not limited to stampers, scrappers, and card-makers. I am a Stampin' Up Demonstrator. I just started as a demonstrator in October, although I have been a customer of Stampin' Up since 2003. There are a few things I want to accomplish with this blog.

I want to help people be creative. Creativity is important to my emotional well-being. My husband will gladly tell you that if I don't get to do something creative every week (at least), I become a big crabby mess. I have also seen Creativity help children in amazing ways. My oldest son Matthew has Dyslexia, and a great way to help him learn things is to bring in arts and crafts. It also gives him a confidence in himself that he loses when working on reading and math which are both affected by his dyslexia.

I hope to post a new project every week. Some projects will be simple and some more advanced. With these projects, I really hope to inspire you to explore the creativity all of us has. I know that last sentence just got some of you. I can hear you thinking and saying, "I'm not creative." But you are, you just have to learn to tap into it and nurture it. That is exactly what I hope to do.

I will also post events I am doing, as well as sales and promotions through Stampin' Up! Thank you for your support. I hope you enjoy all I have to offer.
